At Eva Lane,  the divided roadway of Phase 1 merges with the five lane/raised median segment of Phase 2, located between Eva Lane and Gardens Corner.

To widen the causeway in Segment 2A, just north of the Combahee River, layers of fill material are placed on reinforcing geotextile materials that stabilize the overall embankment.  Side dump trucks enable the materials to be dumped from the existing roadway, minimizing soil displacement and eliminating environmental impacts.

After completing the bridge deck in December, bridge construction proceeds with foundation work on the final approach slabs for the Phase 1 southbound bridges.
